Hot take: I'm no expert, but I think the new Catholic mascot character is C-tier character design.

"Luce," a mascot character from the Catholic Church, just dropped today. And absent of any criticism of the religion itself - although there are many fair ones to levy - the design is mid. Maybe even bad.

The simple colors of yellow, green, and blue are then muddled by the addition of red and brown. The rosary breaks up the design in an awkward way, but not as badly as the very out-of-place logo on the rainslicker. It feels like the sort of thing they slap on a squeeze ball to make it into promotional material. The varied line weights also feel like they came back and added things later, realized they wouldn't fit at all, and then proceeded to do it anyway.

I realize they want all this iconography on here but they've put way too much noise and made the whole thing into an overdesigned mess. And her friends get additional accessories, which. Doesn't help.

My opinion? Ditch the mud and the logo, and abstract the rosary, or at least blend it into the color scheme better. The rosary is probably the most iconic aspect of Catholicism to the layman. Well, probably a bunch of Virgin Mary stuff too, but details.

The crook(?) can stay because it doesn't interrupt the flow of the design. Hell, it arguably enhances it by having something distinct. Though I will say, as someone who was raised Catholic - it didn't stick, mind you, but details - I have no idea what that is.

what is the worst thing your oc does in the story withhhhh kosuke 💞

oooohohohoooo that’s interesting bc I think it’s hard to quantify. It kinda depends I guess??? I don’t have a lot of super concrete story ideas for him but some general thoughts I guess. One of their Main Things is constantly antagonizing people and fucking shit up. The whole reason they started to become as insane as they are now is bc I really liked the idea of them as a mercenary still deriving some fun from battles to contrast how Chris goes about prioritizing winning in a reliable way above all else. Kosuke uses a defense type bey but has a very aggressive battling style which focuses a LOT on having really hard, heavy hits (which is why they have the twisted fusion wheel bc that thing is (iirc) heavy as fuck). Bc they get kinda. yknow. in battles, their adrenaline junkie-ism comes out a lot to really put everything into hitting hard and fucking shit up. I don’t think it’d be to the degree of the antagonists who like severely injure/traumatize/hospitalize their opponents, but it’s definitely enough that it is REALLY strenuous and hard to battle them. There’s also the fact that they’re constantly trying to get people to physically fistfight them which I think is kinda morally reprehensible probably.

The other bit is the emotional aspect of him being a generally kinda toxic person. My ultra specific self-hating projection beam really did a number on just how bad of a person he is bc it’s like— and this is funny to say considering this is kosuke we’re talking about— he’s not necessarily like the worst person upfront. It’s mostly the fact that he refused to challenge his own worldview, refuses to give anyone else a chance, and is so stuck in his own explosive, self-destructive behavior that it ends up dragging down other people with them if they get too close. Kosuke refuses to change and that’s ultimately their fatal flaw as a person bc he expects the world to stay stagnant and revolve around him and allow him to keep indulging in his destructive hedonism solely revolving around his own comfort and his own pleasure only, which is extremely frustrating and unfair to everyone else around them, and that’s kinda the most fucked up think about them. They’re a deeply unhappy, unsatisfied person, and they start and end alone because of this behavior. He’s at a point where only it can save itself but he doesn’t wanna even try, which ultimately causes his own destruction and loneliness.
